It's Spring! Time to Transform your Health

Spring is here! This season brings about warmer weather and motivation to improve health and get fit. Here are some tips that can help you with doing this.

Spring Cleaning

"Spring Cleaning" can apply to your home and your mind. When you tidy up and get rid of clutter, it makes your living space cleaner and your mind clearer. A clean home helps reduce stress and allergy symptoms. De-cluttering and putting things away in their place benefits in clearing your mind. Studies show that people experience a reduction in cortisol (stress hormone) levels when items are removed and this helps you feel clearheaded, relaxed and stable. You can also take advantage of this season by renewing your thoughts and making them positive. Let go of negative thoughts, past hurts and learn to "forgive and forget". "Spring" into moving forward with positivity and happiness.

Go Green

You can go "green" with your food and products. With food, switch to healthier choices like fresh greens in salads as well as fruits and vegetables that come from your garden or are farm fresh. Get more greens in your diet by making healthy "green" smoothies made from spinach, kale, etc. Make this part of your balanced diet. With products, switch to eco-friendly ones that are good for the environment and your health. Simply switching to non-toxic products that are concentrated in small containers can help with both. 

Exercise

The season brings about opportunity to get out in the fresh air and move your physical activity from indoors to outdoors. Go for a walk, bike ride or even try rollerblading! Why not?  Whatever your preference, take advantage of the beautiful weather and fresh air to help improve your health and mental wellbeing. You can also incorporate some mindful exercises like yoga or take up art to calm your mind and exercise your brain.

Take Good Vitamins

Eating a balanced diet alone does not fill all of the critical gaps that we need. In a perfect world it would but we don't live in a perfect world now do we?  Our soils are depleted and no matter how healthy and nutritious our diet is, we still need to fill in those nutritional gaps that we don't get from food. With the start of the blooming season, always be grateful each day. Start or re-establish a daily gratitude practice.
